Such a pretty pair, and so much fear at being able to reproduce those oakl markings.

 

It took at least three start-over attempt to get those wings right. I don't even think there's an outer glow on them, just paint and the smudge tool, and lots.. and lots... and lots of retries and tweaking until it looked right. I had branchtlers pretty well down at this point, and still being inexperienced at hair, I did a fairly ok job at it. The snowflakes were also tough, since its very easy for them to look like spiderwebs. For the body patterns, I believe lots of filters (especially noise) overlays, and other effects were involved.

I LOVE TREEEES. So I was thrilled to get this pairing *w*

 

Wooden bone mask. That's right. OMG THAT'S SO CLEV. I know. I know. Sooo what if that swirly pattern morphed into a swirly WOODGRAIN pattern. Its better, and it... came from the TREE OK? I think this was a fairly good blend of both parents, trees everywhar, edits and markings spoken for from both sides. Now they're just one big happy family.

A very gorgeous pairing, and I'm always excited to do branchy painting.

 

I was fairly proud of how well I emulated the edits onto these guys, and I was so tempted to let them both have the full armor set, but I refrained (barely) and split it up. One got the purply color from the reve blended with the white from the insi, the other got the full pink. I took some liberties by putting dot starts all along the tail, trying to pull it into a sort of scene rather than just having a couple of large star shaped stars. (though those did end up on the butt of the pink one if you look close)

Oh why did they have to be married ;;w;; so many babbies.

 

So this one was all about divide and conquer. Making new edits for each babby would've been silly, though I probably still went a little overboard on them. :P The first two babbies share their horns, tails, and chin fangs, the first and third share the cheek spikes, the second and third share the eye edit, and all three share the lower jaw fangs (often supplemented with a variety of other fangs) All told they still ahve a lot of unique edits apiece. The hardest part was possibly figuring out how to do different body patterns for all those babbies. (I DO NOT believe in duplicating body patterns in nearly all cases, with a few exceptions. Markings don't take that long, seriously.)The third babby had the most natural paleo parts since he had the huge head edit. I was pleased with how these guys came out, and I think they were well received. :)

 Another slightly unusual pairing. A sort of soft, branchy pastell birdy with a punky goggled oakl. Lets doo eet!

 

Did you notice the ears? Now that you have, AREN'T THEY ADORABLE?!?!! I feel this was a pretty tidy blend of both parents. Bits of the smeary blendiness and glowy dots from the reve (well, and the branches lol), with the colors and markings of the oakl parent. (with the ear and goggle edit too) I opted not to do the hair edits in favor of the other edits and excessive branches. (besides the fact that I was very slow and awkward with hair edits at this point)

One glance at these parents and I knew I was definitely NOT using the first parent's colors. (or at least not trying to blend them evenly with the oske) so that meant... turkey edits??

 

I kind of went a weird route with this one. I let the turkey tail hang down, since there isn't as much room there horizontally as there is diagonally. To make it blend, I continued the big, rounded feathers to sort of emulate the oske's wings, but still match the turkey tail. I think it was a pretty unique and successful blend. It may look at a glance that it has only oske markings, but look closely and you'll see lots of feather lines on both the body and the tail and wing feathers. I traded out the pink and purple for bits of green from the turkey, and finished it off with the oske's edited eyes. I think this came out as a very lovely babby, for all that it was a totally bizarro pairing.

A mostly simple pairing on the surface, but lots to use if you look closely.

 

This one was aaaall about TEXTURE. There are fluffy fur bits all over that oakl, and so fluffy fur bits went on both babies feet, and lots of furry fuzz markings on the first baby. (not to mention those generously furry eyebrows) The second baby was wrapped up in lots of little twisty strings, and I think they're a fairly good mix of both parents.

Another eggnog, which of course rolled reves. (xaocs don't happen, remember this)

 

Another pair I am very proud of. Apparently it went over well because parts have been directly ripped off of the first baby's .psd by a predict artist and morphed onto the hybrid babies. (I scaled it myself to check. Yarp. I reported it but the baby is still there, so who knows.) I believe Slash did a massive breed frenzy around this time and gave the babies out for either Christmas or in Easter eggs or something.

Anywho, very very overworked pair, all hand-made, no parts of the parents used. I encourage creative mixings of edits, see how awesome the beads look as a fringe do the hood? The little clip from the chest part as a brooch? The tail jewelry wrapped around the cloak tip? Eh eh? You know these birds are sexy. 

Strawberry Slith

I was ECSTATIC to get this pair. I LOVE strawberries, and this is still one of my favorite babbys I've made to date.

 

I did a totally crazy technique on the strawberry seeds that I have yet to be able to reproduce. It involved doing a blend of layer modes, including a drop shadow, some sort of highlight, and several layers above it with the seed area masked out for me to paint over them. The chocolate tail effect was probably just a multiply and overlay combo, but I think it came out super gorgeous. I'm even proud of how the highlights came out on the strawberry top hat. The oske didn't get a huge amount of incorporation, green tummy/hair and the vine edit, but in this case, I feel it was the right decision to make the perfect themed pet.

I have to say I was grateful this only rolled one baby. Why? I know that I would've done BOTH sets of giant wings, and that would've been somewhat painful to do. But, give me the choice between butterfly and batty dragon wings? BUDDERFY!

 

Apart from the GIANT (and partially semitransparent window-pane) butterfly wings, there are actually several more subtle edits here. The oske's forelock, the soli's ears, and a smattering of sparkles all worked their way into a finished babby. Where it was tempting to do the leopard spots, I definitely needed some extra lovins from the soli parent side, so all the body pattern is referenced from his purple scalyness.

I always love to see the babies I make be loved. I recently saw this one come up on a 'show off your babies' thread, even though this breeding is now nearly a year old <3.
