Damselfly Braid Melos

If Laura Croft was a Dragonfly...
Um. I think the braid looks like Laura Croft. Or something.

So, no .psd for the first parent, and it gets 3 babbys. Hmm.... I actually decided to just remake the whole pet onto a .psd, so it could have one, it was such a simple design. It ended up looking like this:

Pretty close eh?

So here are the babbys:

Having two .psd's made this breeding so much easier. The swirls off the braid parent were multiplied patterns cut up and placed all over the melo, which allowed me to pul them apart and use them on the old melo tail and the first babby's wings. All three got the wings, but, I figure, unedited-eye, old-line melos are a dime a dozen, and hard to sell. The owner will almost certainly want ones with wings, and sell ones without. Why throw still more hard-to-sell babbys into the market?

the black was to throw a curve ball and go for a little drama. White on black became black on white, not too far fetched I think. I bumped up the highlight on the hair on the black melo.

Double Bejeweled Solis

Beadazzled!
Any other 90's kid remember those?

So this was actually two breedings, but I'm combining them into one post because they're exactly the same.

For all that the pairs have similar faces, they're as well mixed as I could invent. (top two are one breeding, bottom another) My goal was to make all four babbys different from each other, despite going to two different owners. These were all four fairly straightforward mix, match, and hue-slide. The hardest part is turning silver to gold, and actually making it match. I had to paint the proper gold hues onto the silver jewelry, though I only needed to desaturate and adjust the levels (brightness/contrast, in simpler terms) on the silver ones. Aside from the gold colors, the only other painting I had to do was the offside eye from the haired parent, as the eye covered by hair didn't exist, and I duplicated, merged, flipped and warped the ear on the jade soli so it would have a back ear.

Lunar Laions

Lizards and Lions and... Stars? Oh my?

+

Lion has a .psd, but lacer doesn't... time to cut it up!

So I made one lion, one laion, and one lacer. I think I divvied up pretty evenly. I got an effect I reeeeally liked with the purple one, linear dodge on a desaturated green rion base. With a bit cutting and masking, the second lion traded out the lion ears for lacer ones. Since I had the .psd for the lion, I just played with the existing layers, and pulled in cut up pieces of the lacer. The blue one I painted in some stars instead of the clouds and milky way for some variety. The last one required the most painting. I opened a blank lacer document, and pulled in the lion color layer. I had to paint in a new face since the original was on the lion, and painted a glow on the tail ornaments.
